Hay Festival may be over and the local returning to the rhythm of daily life, but there are still plenty of reasons to visit the area.

Any runners out there? Oliver will be happy to share his favourite routes up on The Begwyns, high above Clyro, with fabulous views, or lowland trails along the Wye Valley, where he snapped this shot on his iphone this evening.

Last words from the first guests

‘I will make sure everyone in publishing is fighting over this place for next year’s festival.’

Dan Lewis, Waterstones Literary Blogger

Meg and I had a lovely time at Pottery Cottage.  The breakfasts were delicious, and we so enjoyed having tea in bed and then breakfast in the lovely garden.   We were very lucky with the weather, and the events at the festival were all excellent.  So many thanks! We may come back to Hay next year – and would love to stay again.  And we may walk some of the Offa’s Dyke trail sometime – another excuse to visit.
