Thank you to book dealer, Marijana Dworski, for these old snaps of Pottery Cottage in the 1950s. In those days it was still two cottages, and known as 1 & 2 The Village. Marijana’s parents bought the smaller cottage (now the B&B) in 1956 and the same year her father, Adam Dworski, opened the Wye Pottery. The District Nurse lived in the larger cottage, and the Dworski’s bought it from her some time later. They had a bath in the kitchen and a privvy in the garden. Marijana and her brother would jump over the fence to school next door. Now that has been converted into a residential property, The Old Schoolhouse, and Clyro School is across the road, behind the Baskerville Hall Estate (which Pottery Cottage was once part of).
