Exhibition at Pottery Cottage

New dahlias are springing up in the garden and it is such a delight to wake up in the morning and find a new shock of deep pink.
Just a regular day in Clyro! Our neighbours trundling past Pottery Cottage on their traction engine!
And from the garden side, with the old castle tump behind. The B&B is in the little cottage on the right-hand side. This was formerly the pottery workshop of Adam Dworski.
New Autumn/Winter offer at Pottery Cottage: £60 per night for room only, which includes the teas (including Pukka tea selection), coffees (with ground coffee from Method Roastery), a glass pint of milk and a jar of Hay Deli granola.
Booking with full breakfast basket/B&B service also available, for £75 per night for two people.
Hope to see you! The room is warm and cosy and the autumn light is just lovely in that room.
We also have signed copies of Oliver’s book, Under the Tump, available to buy at Pottery Cottage or we can post them out to you.

Just brilliant to have people booking the B&B on the back of reading Oliver’s Under the Tump (Faber & Faber, May 2016). Thanks to all the businesses around Hay that are selling the book. Here it for sale alongside Bernie’s tasty pastries at Hay’s Thursday market.
We can post signed copies of Under the Tump for £15 (free p&p). Email Emma at doblemdesign@gmail.com to arrange.
“The room exceeded all our expectations. Tucked away in the little village of Clyro, we used it as a base to explore Hay-on-Wye and some gorgeous walks in the area. Emma and Oliver were really accommodating, and allowed us to be very self-contained which was perfect. The breakfast was amazing … a lovingly crafted hamper of treats – yum! The bath and shower were incredibly indulgent, and the interior decor throughout has been thoughtfully chosen. We felt right at home here, and didn’t want to leave – a very special place which would love come back to!”

This week we received an advance copy of Under the Tump: Sketches of Real Life on the Welsh Borders by Oliver Balch. The book features Pottery Cottage on the front cover, on the pages of the book, and is even referenced in the title. ‘Tump’ (or ‘twmp’) is the name for a castle mound, and Pottery Cottage is built under the Clyro tump, where a 13th century castle once stood.
Under the Tump will be published by Faber & Faber on May 19, 2016, and it is available for pre-order now. We will copies for sale at Pottery Cottage B&B from May, and of course Oliver will be happy to sign copies for guests!
