Cheery cherry blossom

I arrived back from a week away in Germany and Switzerland to find that our cherry tree had been redecorated! We’re enjoying the blossom while it lasts (usually around five days). The tulips are out too, and the veg patch is springing into life.

Pottery Cottage in the Hereford Times in 1965

Thanks to Giles Morgan for this cutting from the Hereford Times, 11 June 1965, about the potter Adam Dworski, who lived at Pottery Cottage*. On the Dworski’s move to Clyro it says ‘…they bought a roadside cottage and [Adam] set up his own studio in an adjoining carpenter’s workshop’, which is now Pottery Cottage B&B.

*Of course it was named Pottery Cottage after Adam Dworski, back in 1965 it was known as 1 & 2 The Village.

‘beautiful haven’

Thanks to these two guests for the lovely feedback posted on the Pottery Cottage listing on Sawday’s website.

“When I needed a rest from London work-life, Hay-on-Wye/Clyro, seemed the perfect option to regroup. Pottery Cottage was exactly what I needed and far more than I expected to find. The room was a perfect, peaceful treasure with good WIFI and no TV (just what I needed). Breakfasts were delicious and healthy and it was wonderful to discover Clyro and Hay-on-Wye from this beautiful haven. Emma is lovely and gracious, offering the perfect balance of a great host with excellent insights into surrounding places, while fully respecting privacy and things in your own time. I will certainly return!”

“We had an amazing stay at Pottery Cottage – the room is even lovelier than it looks and the place was beautifully clean. Emma was so helpful sending us into the hills with brilliant directions and let us know about a local beer festival at the castle in Hay on Saturday night which brought a new and unexpected layer of fun to our trip. I can’t recommend highly enough!”

Happy New Year from Pottery Cottage

Happy New Year! 2015 has already brought a couple of thick frosts here in the Welsh Marches, but the garden looks beautiful in the mornings, dusted in white. We’re open year round – and the room is toasty and warm. It’s £80 per night for bed & breakfast. Click on the ‘photos’ tab to have a peek inside. The B&B room has a private entrance, so it’s like having your own little cottage for the night.
